ARTS AND CRAFTS PAVILLION, The Royal National Eistedffod of Wales, UK, 1990, with Pawson Williams Architects

RESPONSIBILITY: Architecture
TOTAL PROJECT COSTS: n.c.
DESCRIPTION: Competion entry for a temporary exhibition building at one of Europe's largest and oldest cultural festivals
. The design is a modular structure intended for ten consecutive re-erections – easy to assemble, dismantle and transport. The spacial concept consists of three independent zones, a large exhibition space, a covered outdoor area and a screening theatre. The basic design principle of the exhibition area consists of a raised lenticular edge beam,

braced by a tie rod and stiffend through an air pressured pneumatic PVC membrane roof. From the carrier beam large pivoting wall elements are suspended. Each element can be opened or closed as necessary. The outdoor area is also covered by a membrane roof to provide shade and weather protection. A similar design and identical wall elements are used for the hall. The outdoor area is coverd by a PVC sail to create shade and protection from rain for visitors.

HI-FI SHOP, Kassel, Germany, 1987

RESPONSIBILITY: Architecture
TOTAL PROJECT COSTS: n.c.
DESCRIPTION: Concept design for a flagship shop of an Irish manufacturer of high quality hi-fi equipment. He intended to increase its brand awareness by setting up a chain of Design Brand Shops on key locations of the German market. A basic element was that the shop window and the audition studio

form a physical and visual unit. The individual hi-fi components are presented like precious exhibits in a gallery. To simulate varying spacial situations the audition studios are both by the architectural design language as well as by the choice of materials alternated in "hard" and "soft" environments.
